I was keeping this one a secret. I was only working on it during lunch break at work and any time I was at home alone. But it’s too gorgeous to stay hidden away for the years it would take me to finish it and it became my project to do in the winter when it’s too cold to sit at my sewing stand. I’m working it using q-snaps so it’s very portable even though still quite large.
The design is called Into the Sea from Heaven and Earth Designs and the artist is Jeremiah Ketner. The colours are amazing and anchor colours rather than the usual DMC, which is actually easier for me to get hold of and gives me that strange but nice feeling of seeing the face on the person behind the till when I bring 90+ skeins of thread to be scanned individually.
The first page was finished in November. I did a lot of this one during lunch breaks at work, there’s some big blocks of colour in there so it was simple enough to pull a strand and stitch away. It’s being worked in tent stitch using 2 strands on 25 count ecru magic guide. I like using two strands, it feels like the colours are stronger but it could be because these colours are so vibrant.
Page 2 was finished yesterday and didn’t take very long thanks again to the blocks of colour. I mixed it up though. For every colour I’d do a strand of white. White stitching is my least favourite make all the more painful by having a black and white cat, and it’s always the black fur that gets caught in the white stitching.
The temptation is to stick with her and go onto page 3, that’s the top of her head just appearing in the bottom right corner. But I may have found a solution to allow me to work on Computer Catastrophes a little more over Christmas and the chillyness that has taken over my stitching area. That should be arriving tomorrow so I may just wait and finish my computer catastrophes page first. Then there’s the small page of QS Arthur to be done, mostly blocks and really very small would hardly take me any time at all to do.
